Fun Fall Activities Near Fredericksburg
They say that you will never run out of things to do in Fredericksburg. From its historic downtown, to museums, battlefields, hiking, children activities, and water sports, Fredericksburg is a gem located between Richmond and Washington, D.C. You can explore everything from George Washington’s Ferry Farm, Kenmore, Fredericksburg Battlefield, Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park, among others.
Yet, despite all the activities at your disposal, fall is when Fredericksburg truly shines.
One of the top locations to visit during the fall is Braehead Farm, which happens to be the last remaining working farm within Fredericksburg’s city limits. Events at the farm coincide with the seasons. In the fall, Braehead Farm hosts hayrides and pumpkin picking.
Fall Festival weekends begins on Oct. 2, 2021, and runs until Oct. 31, 2021, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The entrance fee to the Fall Harvest Festival and family playgrounds is $10 per person, for children and adults. Children aged two or younger are free. Activities for the Fall Harvest include:
- Hayrides around the farm and through the decorated forest.
- A corn maze.
- A scavenger hunt through the corn maze to find out who stole the farmers pies.
- Stroll along the Sunflower walk.
- You can visit the “Great Pumpkin,” which will be in the pumpkin patch waiting to greet you from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
- Play and picnic in the family playgrounds with the hay barn, corn pit, swings, sand piles, slides, and farm animals.
You are also more than welcome to stroll through the farm’s pumpkin patches.

Belvedere Plantation’s Fall Harvest Festival runs from Sept. 17, 2021, to Oct. 31, 2021. The plantation is closed on Mondays except on Columbus Day. The Fall Festival features more than 30-plus attractions for families to enjoy, including:
- Wagon rides
- Maize maze
- Fun barn
- Pumpkin mountain slide
- Barrel train
- Colonel’s corn box
- And others
The Belvedere Plantation’s pumpkin patch features acres of pick-your-own pumpkins. The Fall Harvest concludes with the Fall Finale that runs from November 5, 6, and 7. It will be the last chance to enjoy the farm for the year. The culminating event is the pounding of pumpkins.
