The Kia Forte through the Years
The Kia Forte came onto the scene for the 2009 model year and was marketed as an economical alternative to other compact cars available at the time. Originally offered with a 2.0L or 2.4L I-4 engine, it first appeared as a four-door sedan, but a two-door coupe body style soon followed, as well as a hatchback style called the Forte5 that appeared in 2010. Options were plentiful in the Forte, from a handful of trim levels to available upgrades.
The next couple of years saw few changes to the Forte, but 2013 brought about upgraded sound insulation technology and added LED running lights as well as power folding side mirrors. The 2014 model year brought two new powertrain options, a base 1.8L I-4 and a direct-injected 2.0L I-4 with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The 2017 model changes focused largely on aesthetic tweaks and upgraded technology, adding the UVO infotainment system. The 1.8L base engine was replaced by a port-injected Atkinson Cycle 2.0L.
